combined terrain island, Alpine-Cavern biome

This is the BIGGEST update for the Biome Tileset Pack series so far. Please read the changelog for the complete changes documentation.

Changelog:

  • Added sedimentary rock cliff pattern for desert biome.
  • Added lower cave entrance tile for cave biome. Exclusive to cavern biome, you can find this next to the cave tile
  • Added new full tileset format for all biomes, designated by the nomenclature "full_terrain" in their filename. For you who had purchased Biome Tileset Pack C and/or Biome Tileset Pack D, this tileset is the new experimental tileset format available since version +X5.
  • Rearranged the full_terrain tileset to add inward corners for small ledge.
  • The full tileset format gives easier and more intuitive autotiling and combination options compared to the old format. Major tilemapping engines such as Tiled, Godot, and Unity will benefit more in this format.
  • In the full tileset format, there are two new half-tile to bridge vertical transition between  two different terrains - which is impossible to do in the previous versions! Examine the new screenshots for example.
  • Added new terrain variants in 3x3 tileset format. By standard, there is a total of 47 + 1 tilesets variations/combinations for this format for each terrain texture.
  • When placed manually, all 3x3 tilesets are supposed to be compatible with the default 2x2 tiles.
  • All 3x3 tilesets should be compatible with the water terrain of corresponding biome.
  • The 3x3 is NOT the substitute for the 2x2 tileset (the full_terrain tilesets). It means to complement each other.
  • There is NO WATER TERRAIN for the 3x3 tileset format. The reason is that the 2x2 tileset format for water terrain is already sufficient and looks organic enough. In my opinion, making water terrain in 3x3 format is kind of insane design-wise and dev-wise, since you have to define a whole new 47 differently animated terrain with their own collision profile.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: added autotiles which are compatible for every RPG Maker series starting from RPG Maker VX and above. Please refer to the tile size (16x16, 32x32, or 48x48) based on each RPG Maker asset standard when trying to use those autotiles.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: added autotile A1 for water terrain. There is no waterfall or deep water tile yet.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: added autotile A2 for ground terrain. The tall grass tile  is also available as carpeting part (the 4th collumn) of autotile A2.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: all autotiles are present in swappable manner. This means if you want to change from one biome to aother, you only need to swap that autotile with their counterpart! Because of this, you will find that each autotile only contains the first row of the tile - unlike the usual tile A2 assets that always filled to the brim.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: for autotiles, if they didn't come with their own pair (e.g tile_A1_terrain_B with tile_A2_terrain_B), it means the other pair is also compatible with each other.
  • RPG Maker-specific support: All the new tileset format (full_terrain and 3x3) are presented in 256x256 tileset size and their upscales. This means RPG Maker user can use them too in Tile B-E slot!
  • Added rat (gray, black), spider, tarantula, and cave scorpion sprites.
  • All sprites are available in 4 major direction (up, down, left, right).
  • Due to RPG design, sprites have NO specific activity sprite (e.g. eating, sleeping, angry, etc).
  • Added fixed sprite size. Before this update, animal sprites has dynamic base size based on each animal body form. It can range from 16x16 px to whopping 32x32 px for each sprite cell frame. User with peculiar game engine may have it difficult to use sprites with different base size. This update provides new animal sprites clocked at fixed 32x32 px size per cell, available in the folder fauna_32
  • Notice that the normal sprite base size is still 16x16 - the same as the tiles. So in the upscaled versions, a base 32x32 px can reach 96x96 px per cell.
  • New folder restructuring. All biome folders are now placed in their respective size instead of vice versa.

With this, 4/4 of Biome Tileset Pack series now have been updated to v1.5!

All Biome Tileset Pack series are now v1.5!

The 1.5 update is a significant milestone for the Biome Tileset Pack series. With this, about 96% of terrain problems has been solved. Future updates will be focused to add biome-specific details/features as well as minor fix for terrain (if any). This means each Pack A, B, C, and D will have their own unique updates and different update pace, depending on details variations and difficulty.

That's all for now, happy tilemapping!
